Gimme Rhythm is going back to school! Well, almost.
Darren Elliott, Founder of Gimme Rhythm has teamed up with professional dancer and educator Kim Weiss, owner of Out of the Box Dance Company, and the Director of the Los Angeles Music Center Monk Turner, to bring an excitingly new and interactive program to Los Angeles based schools. K-5 students will now be able to explore, and create their own rhythm and tempos, and with the help of Kim Weiss, these kids will also learn how to express what they hear and feel, through interpretive dance.

There are talkers and there are doers. I must say, it is a thrill to be working with the doers, to bring this unique program “Experiencing Rhythm and Tempo”. I was six-years old when I knew I wanted to be a drummer. What a thrill it is to see this program having such a positive impact on children. You see it on their faces, as they learn, explore and compose their own beats and tempos as a group. Then, we add interpretive dance, that brings it all together.
